  In case you haven’t heard, Clay Aiken will join the Broadway cast of Monty Python's Spamalot on January 18, 2008. Clay will take on the role of Sir Robin, which was originally played by David Hyde Pierce. He will be with the production through May 4. The Tony Award-winning musical is playing at the Shubert Theatre (225 W. 45th St.).

"American Idol," in my humble opinion, has contributed to the collapse of the music industry by championing singers who use cheap melisma in place of genuine emotion while trafficking in the tired old standards of yesteryear. No authentic or even remotely innovative artist has a chance of winning "American Idol." Instead, it foists off well-meaning hacks like Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino and Taylor Hicks as stars.
