• Some more 5th Grader mentions ... Clay taped his appearance on the hit FOX game show yesterday and earned some big money for the Bubel Aiken Foundation:
• Mention on Cleveland's WDOK-FM, reports the CB's Vincent -

  Wasn't able to report 'til now, but about 45 minutes ago, a news flash on our local AC station (WDOK) nearly knocked me off my feet! It went something like this..." Attention Clay Aiken Fans! Clay will be a contestant on "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" on ...and gave all the pertinent date and time info! No mention about his playing for the BAF, etc.

  We'll see American Idol contestants Kellie Pickler (left) and Clay Aiken, skater Tony Hawk, Miss America Lauren Nelson, and President Bush's cousin Billy Bush, also known as "the most annoying man in show business." All of them will compete to direct a million dollars to their favorite charity, and most of them will probably reveal embarrassing gaps in their basic learning.

  What do talk show host Regis Philbin, champion skateboarder Tony Hawk and American Idol stalwarts Clay Aiken and Kellie Pickler have in common? Well, they're all going back to school on national television. When Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? returns with its Celebrity Edition, a number of famous personalities will test their brain power for the benefit of various charitable causes.
  
  Aside from Philbin, Aiken, Hawk and Pickler, the upcoming installment of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? will also feature Access Hollywood's Billy Bush and the reigning Miss America, Lauren Nelson.
  
  Clay Aiken will attempt to do his best to raise funds for The Bubel/Aiken Foundation or TBAF, of which he is a co-founder. TBAF is already set to receive a minimum of $25,000 just for Aiken's appearance but the American Idol runner-up and multi-platinum recording artist hopes to win as much for his charity as he possibly can.
  
  Jerry Aiken, Clay's uncle and executive director of TBAF, has expressed much enthusiasm over his nephew's participation in the game show.
  
  "We are excited about Clay's appearance on the show to fundraise for the Foundation.” Jerry Aiken stated. “FOX has given us a great opportunity to move closer to our goal of 100 Let's ALL Play camps in 2008. Clay's appearance will also gain exposure for our goals of full inclusion. Of course we are hoping to win the million, but Clay's being part of their hit show will be great for the Foundation either way."

  A special celebrity edition of Fox’s Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? is set to hit TV screens during November sweeps, Zap2it.com reports. Celebrity contestants include Clay Aiken and Kellie Pickler (both of American Idol fame), Regis Philbin (Live with Regis and Kelly), TV personality Billy Bush, skateboarder Tony Hawk, and Miss America Lauren Nelson.

  Are You Smarter Than a Miss America? Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, which begins its second season on Fox on Sept. 6, is planning some special November telecasts in which celebrities take the 5th-grader challenge. Prize money will go to charity.
  
  Scheduled participants include Clay Aiken, Kellie Pickler, Regis Philbin, Tony Hawk, Billy Bush and Miss America Lauren Nelson.

Clay Spotted at Cedar Point Last Sunday

According to reports off the boards, Clay took himself and the rest of the tour gang to Cedar Point in Ohio in between tour stops on Sunday. He was seen taking several of the thrill rides at the park, including the park's flagship ride, the Top Thrill Dragster.

The CB's missyluvsclay reports:

he was there with the crowd...I have friend that works at Cedar Point...my friend was walking into work and seem a whole bunch of Cedar Point people around a guy near the bathrooms but thought nothin of it...Then when my friend got into work he was told Clay was there...The he said 10 mins later he seen Clay walk onto Top thrill Dragster...He pasted up Power Tower which my friend was happy about cause he was scaried something would happen...Clay left around 7 on Sunday...so he was there pretty much all day...He was walking around like any other person but got to cut in the front of all the lines...He never said anything about anybody bothering him so thats good...My friend also called Clay's bus a fancy bus lol..

But this isn't the first time Clay's had a little fun at an amusement park. Clay's been known to drop by theme parks during some of his past tours. Check out Clay's expression in the photo to the right as he enjoys a ride at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida back in December 2004 during the first Joyful Noise tour!

Tidbits 6/26

• TV Squad - Jimmy Kimmel to return tonight after his emergency appendectomy last week:

  When I wrote about Jimmy Kimmel's emergency appendectomy last week, a large number of well-wishing comments came in from an unusual source: Clay Aiken fans. Apparently, a link to the post showed up on an Aiken fan site and Claymaniacs from all over decided to show their love for Kimmel, who apparently has gotten awfully "close" to the singer when he appears on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
  
  Well, the Claymaniacs and the rest of Jimmy's fans can rest easy; Kimmel is returning to his late-night talk show starting tonight, less than a week after the surgery. "I feel much better now and am delighted to announce that Brad and Angelina may choose to adopt my appendix and give it a loving home," he joked in a statement.

• SecretlyLovesClay says "Invisible" was played at Cedar Point theme park in Ohio this past weekend -

  This past weekend, I went to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, OH, and I was in the bathroom, and all of a sudden I heard those first few chords to Invisible! So I stopped to listen, and sure enough I was right! Now, mind you, there were A LOT of people in this bathroom, but I couldn't help but shout, "OMG, I can't believe they are playing Clay! Woohoo!!!" Then I composed myself and casually walked out of my stall. So I stayed in the bathroom for a while to listen, but had already been in there long enough, so I left, thinking it was only being played in the bathroom, but as soon as I got to the main path, sure enough I could hear that beautiful voice! It was being pumped out throughout the entire park!!! At the food stands, at the rides (except for the rides that have their own DJs like Millennium Force), but pretty much the whole entire park - and it is a HUGE park!!!!! I just walked around with a huge smile on my face. It was great!

• Taking A Moment - Jemock tells us "How to Write a Claymate Appendix Letter to Jimmy Kimmel" ...

  As you are no doubt aware, Jimmy Kimmel wrote a very gracious thank-you note to his "darling Claymates" in response to an apparently heartwarming outpouring of goodwill for him and his lower abdominal (or "appendixical") region. What do you suppose instigated such a response? I didn't send a letter or card, did you? But gosh, I sure wish I had now. I may be late to the bandwagon, but by golly when I finally board that sucker, I'm aiming for the driver's seat. I have majorette boots with dangly pompons and everything.
