Its a Boy For Clay And Jaymes

As most everyone knows by now, Parker Foster Aiken was born today, 08/08/08, at 8:08 a.m. to proud parents Clay and Jaymes. There is much excitement and conversation in Claynation as well as in the media everywhere.

We'll let Clay tell you himself via his blog at the Official Fan Club about Parker's birth:

08/08/08
Hello All...

I know it's been a while. I'm sure you know, it's been a full full summer. Sorry we haven't spoken in so long. But, I'm sure you know... I hate putting the cart before the horse. Not my way to tempt fate. But I wanted to stop by, if only for a second, so you could be the first folks I tell.... HE'S HERE!

My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.)

Parker was born at a hospital in North Carolina just this morning at 8:08 AM. Wow... 8:08 ..08/08/08

Weighed in at 6 lbs 2 oz and measured 19 inches

The little man is healthy, happy, and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also.

The Aiken family, the Foster family, and the Parker family are all thrilled.

We'll share more at some point in the future. Love to you all!

Here are a few of the articles posted online today about Clay's "little man's" birth:

The Insider:
Do you think Clay will make a good daddy? Speak out below and your comments may be read on "The Insider" on TV tonight! Give us your thoughts and watch the show to see if your comments make it on-air!
People.com:
Aiken's mother, Faye, first broke the news by telling Lynda Loveland of Raleigh, N.C., TV station WRAL about the birth. According to Faye, Foster gave birth at a North Carolina hospital.

Clay's mom also said that baby Parker has "dark hair" and that Clay is "smiling from ear-to-ear" about the news.

In May, it was confirmed that Foster, 50, became pregnant via in vitro fertilization.

Though they are not romantically linked, Clay and Jaymes plan to raise the child together. The two met when Aiken competed on Idol, and Foster – who is the sister of legendary music producer David Foster – has produced several of his albums.
TV Guide:
The Season 2 American Idol runner-up and longtime friend, record producer Jaymes Foster, welcomed a son Friday morning in North Carolina, he announced on his official Web site.... The birth was first confirmed by the singer's mother, Faye, who shared the joyous news with Raleigh, N.C. TV station WRAL.

Grandma Faye revealed that her new grandson came into the world with a head of dark hair, while her son is "smiling from ear-to-ear."

Parker is the first child for Aiken and Foster, 50, who conceived via artificial insemination. The pregnancy was first reported in May by TMZ, with sources stating that the two planned on co-parenting.

"By the way she looks great, glowing and very happy," a rep for Foster said at the time. "She and Clay have been good friends for a long time."
WRAL.com:
Raleigh, N.C. — Clay Aiken became a father Friday morning with the birth of a baby boy, his mother told WRAL’s Lynda Loveland in an exclusive interview.

Aiken’s best friend, producer Jaymes Foster, gave birth at 8:08 a.m. at an undisclosed location in North Carolina.

Parker Foster Aiken weighed 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Aiken’s mother, Faye, said the baby has dark hair and that her son is smiling from ear-to-ear.

Mom, dad and baby all are doing fine.

Aiken and Foster will raise the child together. They met when Aiken appeared on American Idol. Foster has produced several of his albums.

Let the countdown begin! In less than two months -- May 6 to be exact -- CLAY AIKEN will release his new album, reports Billboard.

The disc, titled On My Way Here, will mark Clay's first album of entirely new material since 2003's No.1 smash Measure of a Man. While details are limited, it will likely include the title track and a tune called "Ashes."

What's more, Clay is getting ready to hit the road in July for a U.S. tour.

Meanwhile, he is currently entertaining audiences in the Broadway hit Spamalot.
The album is also being featured on Pause & Play, a well-known music industry website listing upcoming CD releases:

Tidbits 2/7

Clay wins another Insider poll on Feb. 6, 2008.
  • The Patriot News - Clay Aiken generates buzz for Spamalot -
A touring production of popular musical "Monty Python's Spamalot" arrives at Hershey Theatre tonight for a five-day run.

But the big buzz for this show is back on Broadway, where "American Idol" heartthrob Clay Aiken recently was picked to take over the role of Robin Hood.
  • American Idol mentions
    • iVillage - "“They call me the black Clay Aiken,” proclaimed Raysharde Henderson. Need I say more? I couldn’t even do it justice."
    • This Is North Scotland -
It's the city that previous American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino, Dreamgirls' Jennifer Hudson and finalist Clay Aiken auditioned in, so the Idol judges obviously had high expectations for Atlanta.
    • TV Envy -
The American Idol machine stopped in Atlanta, the very last city on the tour, perhaps in hopes of finding another Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken or Jennifer Hudson.
    • Extra -
As for Clay Aiken, who's currently starring in "Spamalot" on Broadway, Simon seems rather satisfied that the season two runner-up ended up exactly where he predicted.

"[He is] very at home," Simon huffed.
  • Huntsville Times - article about songwriter who has written for Clay -
Burr, who performed with Pure Prairie League, has more than 20 ASCAP Awards and has in the past been named Songwriter of the Year by the Nashville Songwriter's Association, ASCAP and Billboard. He has written songs for singers Clay Aiken, Michael Bolton, Ricky Martin and Kelly Clarkson, and performs with Ringo Starr and Carole King.

The singer is set to join the award-winning musical.

It looks like CLAY AIKEN is heading to the Great White Way. Clay Video Is Up At The Insider and ET Online Website

Videos of Clay speaking from Jenna Bush's party yesterday are up at the home pages of both The Insider and ET Online.

In The Insider video, Clay talks about how much he enjoys being in New York now. He also talked about how we get bogged down in checking out which celebrities have been arrested, etc. But he feels its important to take the responsibility to talk about things that are important to him, namely the over 150 countries that UNICEF works with that need a voice.

The ET video is very similar except Clay talks a little more about Jenna Bush and how he knows what she has gone through since he also has been over in countries similar to where she has been.

Both videos are very good and feature Clay talking about what he loves the most...helping children whether they are overseas or here at home. With all the things going on in the entertainment industry these days, Clay certainly shows that he has his head on straight and continues to focus on those things that are important and in which he can make a difference.

Update: The Raleigh News & Observer also has a nice write up for Clay's visit to NY on their website:

Clay Aiken: New York calling

Even though "Idol: The Musical" was a huge bomb in New York City, Raleigh homeboy Clay Aiken has a pretty high-profile Big Apple gig coming up later this month. The "American Idol" star is on the bill for Neil Sedaka: 50 Years of Hits, an Oct. 26 Lincoln Center tribute concert to the Tin Pan Alley songwriter that also features everyone from Connie Francis to The Bad Plus. New York's an appropriate venue for Clay right now because, based on this picture, it looks like he's been getting in touch with his inner Donald Trump lately.

(Props to Jennifer B. for the picture point-out.)

Insider: "Clay Brings 'Sexyback'"

The Insider reported on Clay singing a version of Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback" in this short story posted to The Insider Online today... how cute; they even included a YouTube clip!

"We all must embrace our inner dork," the singer recently told Southern Florida's Sun Sentinel.

"I'm actually going to do -- God help me for saying this -- with [the orchestra], a little bit of 'SexyBack.' We're going to do a little medley of songs that people wouldn't expect to hear with an orchestra. I know that it's not going to be cool," he adds. "I have no problem making fun of myself."

"I could never pull songs like that off without knowing where my place is, and it's not as JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE."

Clay will perform on Saturday at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach.

As a preview, check out this YouTube.com clip of Clay performing JT's "SexyBack"!
