Tidbits 12/1

  • Malaysian Radio via The Clayboard - C3d2t tells us via The Clayboard:
A radio station in malaysia mentioned "Clay Aiken turns 29 today"... that came as a surprise coz this station occasionally plays 'the way' but I've never heard ATD. Heard WY once and I remember the deejay saying: 'that was Clay Aiken, r-u on AI2 but very successful. What happend to ruben studdard?' Nothing intended towards ruben, just relaying what the deejay said.

Another station always plays ATD, sometimes Invisible, but the best part is that his songs are accompanied with great comments!!! Things like.... 'you don't have to win to be an international star'.... 'a great singer who made it big in his own right'... etc.... you get the drift.
  • Christmas tour mentions:

  • ClaySpots - Rockysmom wishes Clay a very happy 29th birthday -
Well, well, well Mr. Aiken. Today's your 29th birthday. I know that seems old to you, but trust me sweetie...I've got underwear older than that (I know,I know.... just a little too much info there *g*).

You've matured into a handsome, sophisticated young man who has traveled the world, for business, for pleasure, and as an advocate for children's causes. That is one thing that hasn't changed about you as you head towards the "Big 30".... your commitment to helping others and inclusion for all.

Reporter Sean McMann Interviews Clay, Uses Fan Questions Sent In

On Wednesday, November 28, Clay's Daily Double had a story entitled Send in Your Questions For Clay To Poughkeepsie Reporter Sean McMann and He May Pick It To Ask Clay! In this story, we told you that Sean McMann from The Poughkeepsie Journal would be interviewing Clay and wanted fans to send in their questions for him.

Sean got over 100 questions sent to him by fans, and since then he has interviewed Clay and used three of the questions he received. These questions are included in the November 29th edition of Sean's Space Some of what Sean has to say about the fan questions in his blog is:

With such diversity to choose from, I tried to pick a cross-section. I had 10 readers’ submissions selected to ask Clay, but when he gave such heart-felt and thoughtful answers (you’ll see with the first one), we just ran out of time and could only to get three of your questions.
And about Clay:
Still, Clay was very giving with his time. I was similarly very appreciative of his generosity, thoughtfully answering both my questions for the upcoming Poughkeepsie Journal story and your questions.
Check out the rest of the article to see whose fan questions Sean chose to ask Clay. And Sean will be preparing his article about Clay's interview to be published around December 10. Thanks to Sean for a great article and for allowing the fans to take part in his interview with Clay!

Clay's Birthday Mentioned on Entertainment Tonight

Clay was one of three entertainers featured in Entertainment Tonight's birthday section. ET always asks a question about one of the birthday people, and tonight's question was "In tonight's Entertainment Tonight Capital One Birthdays, which America Idol contestant released the book, Learning To Sing, Hearing The Music In Your Life? Is it Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barino, or Kelly Clarkston.....In tonight's Entertainment Tonight Capital One Birthdays, Ben Stiller is 42, Dick Clark turns 78. And which American Idol Contestant released the book, Learning To Sing, Hearing The Music In Your Life? That is Clay Aiken, who today turns 29. Hey Clay, what's in your wallet?"

You can watch and download this ET segment at Badongo.com, thanks to Gerwhisp at The Clayboard. A SendSpace is also available courtesy of Gerwhisp. At The Clayboard thread you can find these two downloads, as well as a large picture like the one at the beginning of this article, screencapped for us as well by Gerwhisp. Thank you Gerwhisp!!!

And once again, HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAY!!!

Clay's Chicken Soup Story Mentioned at American Idol Online

Most of us have heard about the new Chicken Soup For The American Idol Soul. But, and maybe I'm just behind the times here, did you know that Clay wrote a story for the book? AmericanIdol.com, in an article dated November 5 by Marnie, tells us about Clay's story concerning a woman who was inspired by the Invisible video. Clay also talked about this in his book, Learning To Sing, Hearing the Music in Your Life. According to Clay,

"I've always tried to remember that people are looking at what I say and do to find out what's valuable and important to me, and I've always tried to set the right example. But that day I realized that I can't know all the ways my actions may impact someone. I couldn't have imagined that video would have affected anyone in any kind of positive way, but, lo and behold, it had."
You can buy Chicken Soup For The American Idol Soul at your local bookstore or at www.amazon.com. And if you buy it at amazon.com, be sure to read the customer reviews. Everyone who left a review loved the book, even those who were skeptical. Sounds like a great item to include on your Christmas list to Santa!

Birthday Mention, Article About Clay at American Idol Online

A "Happy Birthday" wish and a great article are both featured on the home page at AmericanIdol.com The article, posted by Marnie, takes you through a quick trip of Clay's accomplishments since American Idol. Clay's work with children with special needs and UNICEF is highlighted in the article:

Even more impressive than Clay's achievements in the music industry is his tireless dedication to the causes that are near and dear to his heart. He created the Bubel/Aiken Foundation in 2003, accepted a UNICEF ambassadorship in 2005, and, in 2007, he was appointed by George W. Bush to a committee that acts in an advisory capacity to the President and the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. The committee acts on matters pertaining to programs and services for persons with intellectual disabilities. Clay's reason for creating the Bubel/Aiken foundation was a personal one, as he worked with Diane Bubel's son, Michael, who has autism. The foundation helps to integrate children with disabilities into the same environment as their non-disabled peers. As he states on his Myspace page, "You know, my mother has always been someone who urged me to help people in need. Maybe thats it. I dont think its something you can learn. Its just something you do."
Check out the rest of this article for yourself. Some really great things are said about Clay and there are three pictures showing his "transformation" from AI tryouts to AI Season 5 Finale!
