The Bubel Aiken Foundation Fundraisers - 3 A Day To Remember - Part I

I know we all get caught up in the excitement of upcoming tours, AI2 Rewind (with Clay narrating!!), Clay's upcoming appearance on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, and all those gorgeous pictures of Clay at various Clay sites.

But let's not lose sight of one of the most important things we can do for Clay and his foundation, The Bubel Aiken Foundation...and that is donate whatever we can to the various fundraisers that are going on regularly in Claynation. In so doing, we are ultimately helping the children with special needs as BAF works to get them included in summer camps and various other activities with their typical peers. This is something that is very close to Clay's heart. He has even said before that he prefers that instead of giving him a gift, we donate to BAF. We've done so on his birthday, for Christmas, and on many other special occasions. But the day-in day-out ever going on fundraisers kind of get lost in the mix.

For the next few days, CDD will list these fundraisers, three per day, that you can take part in, some so easy that it literally takes a matter of seconds to take part in. Here are the first three:

Goodsearch - Each search means a penny for TBAF and those pennies add up quickly. Its free to search and takes just a few seconds. Just follow instructions carefully.

Goodsearch URL: http://www.goodsearch.com/
Copy URL and paste in your Browser.

Underneath the gray "Who Do You GoodSearch For", write "The Bubel Aiken Foundation", (NEVER PUT JUST BAF)Click "Verify". Before you search, always look at the "My Charity" box at the top of your screen to see that it says Bubel Aiken Foundation. Then put your search subject in Goodsearch Search Box.

You can put a Goodsearch toolbar at the top of your screen for convenience, or you can make Goodsearch your Home Page.

Goodshop - This one is so easy. Go to the Goodshop page. Make certain the "Who Do You Goodsearch For" section at the top says "The Bubel Aiken Foundation" (write it in if it doesn't). Then click on whichever company you wish to shop with. The most popular companies are on this home page, but you can click on the drop down box above those company names and there are a multitude of store categories to choose from. Now you do what you love to do...SHOP!!! A percentage of your total will go to BAF.

Empties4Cash - Printer Cartridge Fundraiser - Turn your trash into cash. When you have an empty printer cartridge, don't throw it away. Instead email empties4cash@hotmail.com and request a free prepaid carton or mailer. They sent me about 25 envelopes, so I now have enough to last me for several mailings. All money raised, up to $4 per cartridge, will be sent monthly to BAF. Cartridges with a print head that qualify are Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Compaq, Canon, Dell, Brother, and Apple. Epson cartridges do not qualify. Ask your friends, family, and co-workers for cartridges. If you throw them away, you're throwing away money!

All of these fundraisers can be found at The Bubel Aiken Market Place site . Try to support as many of these as you can. These first three in this article cost you nothing more than your time. And the more people who participate, the more those pennies, those percentages, those cartridges, add up! Now see how easy it is to help out BAF by participating in fundraisers to raise money for their camps!! The "100 For 1 Million Challenge" needs out help and support!

Christmas Tour Promotion

The Clayboard has a nice thread on promotions being used for Clay's Christmas tour ... way to go to all the venues advertising Clay's shows!

  • Earthtimes.org - An article about American Idol Rewind says:
    In the September 29th premiere, viewers are greeted by Idol winner Ruben Studdard as he introduces the new season. Viewers will then hear from runner-up Clay Aiken, as he guides us through all seven audition cities and looks back on where American Idol Season 2 began its new search for the next music superstar.
  • TMZ.com TMZ.com lets readers talk to the blog:
    Readers who want to offer their 2 cents about online news have a new way to vent.

    TMZ.com, the fast-growing entertainment blog co-owned by AOL, has started letting readers post audio comments about items on its website for playback by other people at the site. That's a next-generation leap from the written comments many sites have added...

    ...TMZ refined the technology, then relaunched the service about a month ago with an item - known as a "post" - about American Idol contestant Clay Aiken. The commenting service is free; readers need a laptop or PC with a built-in microphone. Comments are limited to 30 seconds in length.
  • ElitesTV - American Idol Rewind 2 returns in syndication beginning tomorrow -
    American Idol Rewind is back, and this time the popular syndicated series will highlight Season 2, the year that put American Idol on the map with legendary talent and unprecedented ratings. • Louisville Courier Journal -
    Amen to that. Clay Aiken, Carrie Underwood and most singers never acknowledge Hanukkah on their holiday albums.

    "Oy Vey" is the perfect antidote to that.
  • Press Enterprise - American Idol losers come out winning -
    As the records show, you don't need to be a winner on "American Idol" to make it big. In fact, it's even better if you lose. Take Clay Aiken and Jennifer Hudson as prime examples that losing makes you an even bigger star.
  • Christmas tour mentions:
  • Richmond.com - 15 minutes up for American Idols?
    Elliott Yamin, Chris Daughtry and Clay Aiken...
    ...selling me a funnel cake. Your 15 minutes are up, guys. The Fair is hiring. You're welcome. Keep the change.

  • The ConCLAYve - the evolution of Clay Aiken to become "This Man" -
    Four and a half years later, the boyish looking guy with the big voice is still a big part of my life. He's changed a lot. Some changes are obvious, such as his physical appearance. He's no longer the too skinny guy. He's filled out with broad shoulders and a fuller face one would expect from a man who will be 30 in a little over a year.

"eBay Auction Remembering Inclusion" - Approved BAF Fundraiser Raising Funds For BAF's 100 Camps

There are so many great fundraisers that have been going on for a while now. A lot of the Beta Alpha groups are raising funds for The Bubel Aiken Foundation's "Let All Play" program by selling watches, necklaces, keychains, and much more so that 100 camps can become a reality in 2008.

The Beta Alpha Group, "Aiken Breakin Broads Remembering Inclusion" began an approved BAF fundraiser just for that purpose about a week ago. The fundraiser, "Ebay Auction Remembering Inclusion" is raising money by auctioning items on EBay that belong to the group's members. A store which has been named "Aiken Breakin Remembering Inclusion" has been set up at Ebay so that all items being auctioned are in one location. The auction is set up exactly like any auction on Ebay is. Already, the group has raised close to $500 in a week by selling items such as those in the picture above, including jewelry, games, toys, books, DVD's, Christmas decorations, and household items. More items are being added to the store at an almost daily basis, so you should "come over and come often" to the store and check out what is still open for auction and what new items have been added since you last looked. The prices are great, and the final price is determined by your bidding. 100% of the proceeds, less Ebay and Paypal fees, will go to The Bubel Aiken Foundation.

The link below will take you to the "Aiken Breakin Remembering Inclusion" Store. Save it to your favorite places so you can "Come Browse, Bid, and Buy for BAF"!

http://stores.ebay.com/Aiken-Breakin-Remembering-Inclusion

Here is all the information that you should need to know about this fundraiser.

If you find you need more information, send an email to abbinclusion@yahoo.com. Come help us raise money for a wonderful cause. We would love to double our $500 to at least $1000 before the store closes come mid-October. The Store will be open until October 13 with lots of great deals for you to buy!

This and all other approved Bubel Aiken Foundation fundraisers can be found at the BAF Approved Fundraiser page.

COME BROWSE, BID, AND BUY FOR BAF!!

  • The CH's Careless Whisper reports that Clay attended his 10th high school reunion in Raleigh recently -
    I got razzed today at work for being a "bad" Clay fan. Apparently, Clay attended his 10 year high school reunion over the weekend and when I was asked about it everyone was in shock that I didn't already know. Yeah, I was "outed" a long time ago. The daughter of a friend of my manager was at the reunion and said Clay was there, too. That's all I know. I didn't have time to check the board today and was wondering if I missed something. I'm glad that he was able to attend and I hope he had a good time.

    Magical Holiday Tour 2007: Williamsport, PA Christmas Show Confirmed

    Clay's return to the Community Arts Center in Williamsport, PA has been confirmed following months of rumblings that Clay was set to play another concert at the venue. Clay was last at the venue during last year's "Symphonic Christmas Tour".

    The show is scheduled for December 15 at 7:30 PM EST.

    ~~~~
    Dear Friends,
    As the House Manager of the Community Arts Center, I am so pleased to welcome Clay Aiken and his fans back to our beautiful venue. The entire staff of the CAC had such a wonderful experience with not only Mr. Aiken, but with his wonderful Claymates and Claymaniacs last year. I believe that myself and the rest of the staff were moved not only by his talent, but his kind and loving nature. Not only is he an very talented artist, but a gentleman as well!
    We really hope to see all of you again at the Community Arts Center on December 15, 2007. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns!
    Best Wishes,
    Lara Collins Breon
    House Manager
  • Caller-Times - actress says she can't live without Clay's "Measure of a Man" -
    Desert island CDs: Clay Aiken's "Measure Of A Man," "Disney: 60 Years of Musical Magic," Ozzy Osbourne's "No More Tears."
  • Orlando Sentinel - sports article on "faking it" -
    "I don't read the paper."
    If you've read it once, you've read it 1,000 times. Or maybe not, since that would mean you read the paper.
    That's like admitting you listen to Clay Aiken or voted for Larry Craig. It's apparently worse if you're a sports figure. For them it's admitting you read your own reviews and can't handle the bad ones.
  • ClaySpots looks back at 4 years of Clay Aiken and what's next for him -
    Aiken is at a crossroad in his career. He released a pop album in 2003, a Christmas album in 2004, and a covers album in 2006. He's toured nine times and he appears on countless TV shows. He's definitely a TV personality and as an entertainer he's garnering an excellent reputation as a live act who can sell tickets and put butts in the seat. So, what's next?
    Clay has told us that he's working on a new CD and he has said that they are aiming for a Spring 2008 release date. His last CD was filled with cover songs, apparently a mandate from Clive Davis. From what I understand, Clay fought hard to include four original songs on the CD and two songs available by download only, 'If You Don't Know Me By Now' and the incredibly plaintive, Aiken-penned 'Lover All Alone'.
    From some of Clay's remarks in his meet & greets during this last concert tour, it will be a CD of originals and, so far, he and RCA are on the same page.
Excerpt From "Learning To Sing" on Dr. Phil's Website
An excerpt from Clay's book, "Learning To Sing, Hearing The Music In Your Life", is on Dr. Phil's website. The excerpt, which is from Chapter 5, Find Your Voice, in the book, is in the "Dr. Phil's Advise" section of the website and then in the "Parenting" information of this section.
Before the excerpt from the book, Dr. Phil says,
Clay Aiken got picked on and bullied as a kid, but found his gift, embraced it and changed the experience of his life. He shares his story on the show, and in his book, Learning to Sing.
A portion of Chapter 5, which is quoted on the website is as follows:
Those boys learned pretty quickly that I wasn't going to fight back and I wasn't going to tattle on them. The nicer I was, the bigger the target on my forehead. The high road left me defenseless. And the mockery only got worse.
"Retard."
"Fag."
"Wimp."
"Dork."
"Four eyes."
"Loser."
I got it all. But the thing is, the more I took it, the less I cared. Being harassed became a part of my day, and I accepted it.
I know it sounds sad now, looking back, but at the time I wasn't analyzing it. I was just living my life. I think the bullying helped me figure out at an early age that stuff is going to happen to you that you wish wouldn't. People are going to treat you badly, and ultimately that is out of your control.
"Just let it roll off," my mom would say. And I did. Because even as a kid, I knew the other option wasn't for me. I was not going to hurt somebody else.
Clay was on Dr. Phil's show in April 2005 on a segment which talked about "Bullying".
With the holiday season around the corner, this may just be a release of the old 2004 DVD... but, as always, stay tuned to CDD for updates.
  • Daily Journal - airplane etiquette; Clay's infamous "plane incident" -
    But the mother refused and, it seems, things got even more unpleasant. The result: the captain of the Continental ExpressJet plane taxied back to the gate and booted Penland and her son off.
    The incident came only days after former "American Idol" finalist Clay Aiken fell asleep on a Continental flight, his foot landing on the armrest of the passenger in front of him. The singer claims he was awakened by a quick hit to the chest by the annoyed passenger, prompting an argument and a call to the FBI, though no charges were filed.
