What's NOT Hot From Spamalot....Flash Pictures, People Yelling Out, and Inappropriate Audience Behavior

This is one article that is hard to write. Its a bit of "news" that I wish would never happen. But happen it did.

During Saturday's matinee, there were several inappropriate types of behavior that took place in the audience. Whether it was caused by fans or not, I am not 100% sure. Most think it was fans, but no matter who it was, this writer cannot stress enough the importance of appropriate behavior when at the theater.

According to various people who were at the concert, flash photography was taken from the first row, as well as some dancing and singing, which threw off the performers in Spamalot. Obviously this is not proper behavior for any theater performance, and it would seem that anyone old enough to attend a theater production should know better. In reply to this behavior, Jerome came outside at the Stage Door and announced that Clay was unhappy about this situation and would not be out to sign autographs. This was embarrassing for Clay, being that this was most likely if not for certain done by his fans, and obviously his castmates were not happy with the situation.

However, there was a turn of events later. According to toni7babe at The Clayboard, a friend called her and Clay did come outside to sign autographs after all:

Spamalot Stage Door Report

On the phone with toni2marie from CV about 4-5 rows deep at stage door. Clay is out there. Black puffy coat on. Brown hoodie it looks like under.

Clay looked great out there. He had on jeans, gym shoes, brown hoody, puffy jacket. He was very smiley and laughing and chatty. One fan yelled out from 3rd row tomorrow is my Birthday Clay and he snarked back mine is in November but then as he moved a bit farther down looked back and said hey did I get the birthday girls Playbill signed? And he had. He seemed to sign most of the Playbills he could reach from first few rows she said. Lots of excitement and it was packed out there she said.
This is just like Clay to go on outside after all so as not to disappoint all the fans.

Just a final reminder for anyone going to the musical. This is not a Clay Aiken concert. He is not the only one performing on the stage. This is a group effort by a very talented group of actors. Clay does not want his fans to do anything to call attention to him or make him stand out from the rest of the cast. We need to act like mature adults and fans, as I know most of us will do. Let's not do anything at all to embarrass Clay and to cause a disruption of the show. We want to show Clay our appreciation for his multi-talented performance, but let's make Clay proud of us as well.

Now...on with the show!!

I think he came to the Stage Door at the evening concert.

It was my understanding that Clay did NOT come out after the Matinee show - but he did come out after the Evening show ONLY...
