Toledo's music scene had a little bit of everything in 2005, from cool jazz to classic rock to punk to American Idol stars.
Outdoor shows of note this year included the Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre series that featured the Moody Blues, American Idol's Clay Aiken, Hootie and the Blowfish, and Hall and Oates, although the H&O show was postponed twice due to Daryl Hall's bout with Lyme disease, finally coming together on Aug. 6. Transplanted Sylvania-area natives the Psychodots returned to the area for the first time in decades Aug. 20, playing a benefit show at Centennial Terrace for the Toledo School for the Arts.

As the baby new year that was 2005 goes gentle into that good night, it's time for the annual hand-wringing of assessing the year in music.
Oh, you want more specific predictions? OK:
Clay Aiken will release his sophomore album, only to find that a chunk of his listeners have either died of old age or turned 12 and no longer find him interesting.
A reader sent this in to correct their information given in this Dec. 18 article about Christmas albums/Clay's MCWL disc.

Re: "Stores with their own CDs? Sounds good to him" by Cheryl Hall, Dec. 18 Business section
I enjoyed your article on the holiday CDs being sold exclusively at RadioShack stores. I believe this concept has a great future in the music market.
I do want to correct one of your statements, however. "Last Christmas, Hallmark Cards Inc. sold 1.5 million special James Taylor CDs in its 4,000 Gold Crown stores. By comparison, the hottest holiday CD produced by a major record label last year was Clay Aiken's, which sold 753,000 copies."
Clay Aiken's Merry Christmas With Love sold more than a million copies and was No. 70 on Billboard magazine's chart of the Best-Selling Albums of 2004.
