Denver Post - the current Sir Robin in Broadway's "Spamalot" is wishing Clay the best of luck as Clay is set to succeed him in January -
Clay Aiken replacing Moran in "Spamalot"
George Washington High grad Martin Moran, who has played Sir Robin in Broadway's "Spamalot" since April 2006, will be succeeded by "American Idol" crooner Clay Aiken beginning Jan. 18.
Moran had been asked to stay through June, but he declined. He's been chosen for a month-long writing residency at The MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire (that's the oldest artist colony in the country). And opening Jan. 28, he will perform his play, "The Tricky Part," at The Signature Theater in Washington, D.C.
"It was a great run, but it's time to go," Moran said. "I wish Clay well. He really seems like a sweet guy."
Newsday - 5 days to go until the big Neil Sedaka 50th Anniversary concert at the Lincoln Center in New York. Clay is set to perform at the star-studded event.
NEIL SEDAKA: 50 YEARS OF HITS. A benefit event to honor the singer/songwriter is scheduled to include appearances by Natalie Cole, Connie Francis, Dion, Clay Aiken, Lou Christie, and, of course, Sedaka. Proceeds go to the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The show is Friday at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in Manhattan. For tickets, call 212- 721-6500.
Even with the ongoing media blitz about Clay Aiken's January nod for a starring role in Broadway's "Spamalot" and expanded promos for his Nov. 1 "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" appearance, one of the best articles to come down the pike this week was the ABC News piece about celebrity charity activists.
Although Paris Hilton's new venture -- Paris to Rawanda: Socialite Becomes Latest Star Hitched to Charity -- is the lead, it is UNICEF Ambassador Aiken who is quoted throughout.
All That Is Clay Aiken - Clay Aiken keeping himself busy with American Idol Rewind narration, tour, new CD, role on Broadway's Spamalot.
[I had] thrown together nice portion of canned carrots and applesauce along with some homemade Bisquits that I had really actually ENJOYED the Spam... alot! Well, she thought that was the probably one of the funniest thing she'd ever heard and told me that I should definitely consider writing that one down in my blog..
Clay Aiken, who became a music superstar following his success on the American Idol television series, will join the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Monty Python’s SPAMALOT, making his Broadway debut in the role of Sir Robin, at the Shubert Theatre, New York, from January 18 to May 4, 2008.
