Yahoo! Music - American Idol looking to re-instate the "wildcard"? Well, kinda-
Yes, the last-gasp policy that once rescued Clay Aiken from premature obscurity may now save another gone-too-soon singer. See, according to rampant messageboard postings across this great Interweb of ours, five semi-finalists who failed to make the top 10 will return to the American Idol stage for the April 9th Idol Gives Back charity special....on which they will battle for a wild-card slot on this summer's American Idol concert tour!
This baby-faced, 17-year-old singer is cuter than a basket of puppies — puppies made of rainbows! Whether or not he wins, he could be the next Clay Aiken — a talented belter with a rabid fan base. But as the judges have said, he needs to take a few risks and venture outside his sweet-and-safe comfort zone. How about trying something just a little more rock ’n’ roll?
American Idol (FOX, 9pm): ”Kimberley Locke performs ‘Fall’ and one of the 10 is sent home.” I just recently saw Locke diss Clay Aiken on Perez Hilton’s show. I’m liking her more and more every day.
