FULL TOUR COVERAGE - 2007 AN EVENING WITH CLAY AIKEN TOUR BLOG
The first news blog dedicated to multi-platinum recording artist CLAY AIKEN. Updated daily by BurberryAiken.
Aiken’s strongest moment was his performance of Lover All Alone, for which he wrote the lyrics. In spite of jarring intonation problems from his guitarist, he loosened his grip on the polished, practiced stage manner and truly connected with his own soul.
Clay Aiken is a riot. There's something genuinely comedic about the singer, care-free and, well, likable.
The Season 2 "American Idol" runner-up to the Velvet Teddy Bear Ruben Studdard has sold more records than any other "American Idol" alum besides Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. And this guy's tours sell out around the country.
You dyed you hair. What's up with that?
It started on "American Idol" and they wanted to change my image. I don't even know what color it is now. We just try everything — it could be beach blond next!
Since you've found fame and fortune, what did you do with your first big check?
My first major purchase was a Volvo [laughter]. I'm such a dork! I didn't want to be too ostentatious, and I wanted something safe and reliable ... I also paid off my mom's car.
Where do you plan to hang out when you get to Atlanta.
People around me love Lenox. I love Fogo de Chao ... I always have to get back to the corner on Spring Street where I spent the night for my ["American Idol"] auditions at Merchandise Mart. So I'll try to get back over there.
Foster seeks Alberta talent
Dreaming about being the next Michael Buble, Celine Dion or Josh Groban? This could be your big chance.
Music producer David Foster -- who propelled all of the above mentioned artists to the top of the pops -- will be conducting an Alberta-wide talent search in September in conjunction with his David Foster and Friends Celebrity Gala to be held Sept. 8 at the Jack Singer Concert Hall.
Performers confirmed for the Sept. 8 Gala include former Chicago lead singer Peter Cetera, Babyface Edmonds, Mahood and comedian Sinbad.
Other names that may appear, though are not confirmed, include Lionel Richie, Reba McEntire and Clay Aiken.
"David always surprises us and gets somebody big to come," says Cook. "A lot of us don't know who until the last minute . . . but it's always somebody huge and it's always the best evening."
Foster has been organizing his charity galas since 1986, raising millions of dollars for the families of children in need of organ transplants.
The Greek Theatre is proud to host an evening with multi-platinum recording artist Clay Aiken on Saturday, August 4 at 8:00 PM.
Aiken's latest album, A Thousand Different Ways, released September 2006, offers fans 10 cover versions of love songs spanning the last three decades, as well as four brand-new songs that are destined to become Aiken classics in their own right. "This album is very different than my first, Measure Of A Man, in that I had a lot more say in how I wanted things to be," says the singer. Debuting at number 2 on the Billboard chart, it made Aiken the 4th artist ever to have his first 3 albums debut in the Top 5 and scan over 200,000 in the first week.
Though his fans have come to expect him to knock each song into the heavens with his transcendently powerful voice-which he does here quite masterfully, particularly on Harry Nillson's "Without You," the Bad English hit "When I See You Smile" (written by Diane Warren), and the Foreigner classic "I Want to Know What Love Is" his latest album also shows off a more mature Aiken, one who is able to add beautiful vocal nuances to such unexpected choices as Bryan Adams's "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)," Paul Young's "Everytime You Go Away" (written by Daryl Hall), and Dolly Parton's "Here You Come.
Don’t miss An Evening With Clay Aiken on Saturday, August 4 at 8:00 PM.
Dear Supporter,Now that you've read Aron's email, answer this question: "Are You Up To The Challenge?" If so, let's get those pledges rolling in!!
As you may be aware, Bubel/Aiken Foundation co-founder Clay Aiken is appearing on a celebrity edition of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” hosted by Jeff Foxworthy on FOX. The show will air later, but Clay is taping his episode on August 28. For more info on the show, copy and paste this web address into your internet browser:
http://fox.com/areyousmarter/
Beyond receiving the amazing exposure the show will bring, the Foundation will receive at least a $25,000 donation from the show. Anything beyond the $25,000 that Clay earns by answering "elementary" questions will also be donated to the Foundation. He will need to answer 6 questions to get beyond the minimum. 11 questions correct means the Foundation will receive a $1 MILLION check from the show.
We would like to issue a challenge to all of you. We would like you to pledge an amount for each correct answer Clay gives on the show. Whether it's 50 cents or 100 dollars, every amount will help us get closer to our goal of 100 Let's ALL Play camps in 2008.
If you would like to make a pledge, simply reply to this email (pledge@bubelaiken.org) with your pledge amount. We would like to receive all pledges by August 21 when we will announce the total pledges made. After the show, we will announce the number of correct answers (we're going to assume 11) and then you can make your donations online at www.bubelaiken.org or send in a check or money order to:

If you are a member of a Beta Alpha Chapter, you can include the chapter name with your donation and your chapter will receive the credit.
Also, and this is a big ALSO, why not take this opportunity to pass on this challenge to your family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors? This not only will help with this particular drive, but can also spread more awareness about the Foundation.
Thank you so much for your support!
Sincerely,
