Mourning The Death of Steve Irwin

1962 - 2006

We're taking a break from Clay News to mourn the death of Australian legend Steve Irwin, known to many simply as the "Crocodile Hunter". CNN reports:
Steve Irwin, the enthusiastic "Crocodile Hunter" who enthralled audiences around the world with his wildlife adventures, died Monday morning after being stung by a stingray while shooting a TV program off Australia's north coast.

Media reports say Irwin was snorkeling at Batt Reef, a part of the Great Barrier Reef about 9 miles (about 15 kilometers) from the town of Port Douglas, when the incident happened.

Irwin, 44, was killed by a stingray barb that pierced his chest, according to Cairns police sources.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Irwin family and Steve's fans. You can share your thoughts by posting a comment on this blog.

  2. The announcement yesterday was one of those where I just stopped and took a breath -- how sad. Hopefully there will be some comfort for his loved ones in knowing that he died doing what he loved, working with animals. What a great loss for his family and fans, and all the animals he cared so much about.
