Clay in August Issue of BREAK Magazine

From the CB via TTC:
BREAK! is a magazine from the NCCA collegiate community. The August 2005 issue features the results of our recent "Favorite American Idol" poll. There were 4 finalists and all were close in the number of votes they received.
There are also other stories related to American Idol contestants, including Clay Aiken. See the synopsis below. There is also a link below where you can see an image of the front cover.
A year ago the NCCA published a Collegiate Standard Farewell Commemorative to Clay Aiken which many Clay fans outside the NCCA community enjoyed. They purchased it after an extra printing of that companion volume was ordered. BREAK! is not a magazine that can be purchased in any store or outlet although some NCCA members may offer their private copies for sale on eBay when it comes available. The NCCA is offering it to interested Clay fans at $4.99 plus $2.50 shipping and handling.
If there is sufficient interest outside the NCCA community for this issue of BREAK! as there was for the Clay College Life Commemorative, then an additional printing to accomodate those outside of the NCCA will be ordered.
There is currently a thumbnail of the BREAK! cover at www.collegiatestandard.com where you can place your advance order. If there are not enough orders placed to warrant an extra printing, then all orders will be refunded in the manner and sequence in which they were placed.
All of the information required to place your order is at www.collegiatestandard.com. We would like for you to indicate which idol is your favorite in the notes/comments section when placing your order but this is optional.
If you have any questions, please don't contact our offices, but email your questions to breakmag2005@yahoo.com and i will do my best to reply as soon as I can get to them. Thanks.
Best,
Sarah Coe
BREAK! Magazine
Collegiate Standard
*IMPORTANT NOTE: We also plan to contact the fans of the other four American Idol contestants featured in BREAK! with the same opportunity for them to have copies. We don't anticipate running out of copies in the extra printing, but all advance orders will be fulfilled in the order and time they are placed. If it should occur that all copies of the extra printing of this BREAK! should sell out, then anyone who was not able to get their copy wil be promptly refunded.
CONTENT SYNOPSIS of August issue of BREAK!:

Clay mentioned in AP wire story on Bo Bice

From CTV.ca:
In the May 25 finale, the long-haired rocker failed to bring in as many votes as Underwood, who won over audiences with her country charm. But runners-up on the Fox show have done well in the past - most notably Clay Aiken.

Clay mention in Tsunami "Update" Press Release

PROFNET EXPERTS ROUND-UP: Six-Month Anniversary of Asian Tsunami
Wednesday June 15, 2:09 pm ET

June 15, 2005

Following are experts who can discuss the six-month anniversary (June 26) of the tsunami that devastated many parts of Asia last December, including the progress of recovery efforts, major challenges remaining and what we've learned that may be helpful in dealing with similar catastrophes in the future:

**1. CLAY AIKEN, internationally known multi-platinum recording artist, became a national ambassador for the U.S. FUND FOR UNICEF. A budding philanthropist and long-time education advocate, Aiken uses his ambassador status to help ensure that children everywhere are afforded a primary education. He visited Aceh the week of March 14, 2005, on his first UNICEF field mission. During the trip, Aiken visited primary-school students in the tsunami-ravaged province in northern Sumatra. Clay's Management Praises Fans

From the CB:
I just talked with someone who talked to Clay's management team (yes, the direct team). No specific Clay stuff at the moment, but they got to talking about his fans and they are very impressed with all you do, how persistant you are, how creative you are and just love you to pieces. They said Clay's fans are like non other in the business.

Clay mention in ComputerworldOnline!

From the CB:

These may be absolutely the truest words ever written about an online Clay fan! It is in a Compterworld online article about ungrading equipment!

"- Six months ago, Mom's Macintosh was in trouble. Her aging Power Mac G4, coupled with a dimming 17-in. Apple Cinema Display, was slowing down. One of the FireWire ports didn't work (I later found out it was just dust-filled). And worst of all, she was running out of room for all her Clay Aiken pictures, tunes and videos. "

I am just laughing out loud at the keyboard! Horrors! Running out of room for Clack!!!

Here is the link for the article! I know I've been cleaning out space for new Clack during this downtime!

Clay album in Fall?

The Clay News Network has received the following information:

Regarding Clay’s upcoming sophomore album, while there has been no official announcement, Clay Nation News has received several indications from retail and industry sources that Clay’s next album may be due in fall 2005. Clay’s summer schedule suggests that this is as a possibility, as the Jukebox Tour could serve as an excellent way to whet our appetites for new music from Clay, and Clay’s July 29th performance on Good Morning America would certainly be a logical time for him to introduce the lead single for his next album. Now that Clay has returned from Uganda, we should be on the lookout for him to do some press in the next few weeks to bring more attention to the plight of the internally-displaced peoples there. It’s possible that he will also make mention of his album/touring plans when he does—especially if, as the New Vision article linked above suggests, Clay intends to raise awareness of the situation in Uganda through song. 19E returns Clay onto its site

From CV:
Apparently 19E has added Clay back on their UK site with this very nice biography.

Quote:
Clay Aiken

Another huge talent that came from the Idol stable, Clay has been a runaway success in the U.S. Losing out on the title of American Idol to Ruben Studdard in 2003, Clay was immediately signed up to RCA records. He's released a massively successful album, a Christmas CD, and has even had his first book stacked on the shelves. Not only that, this boy loves to hit the road, notching up four tours in 18 months. Aiken's awards and achievements make for a very long list. Among the highlights: he won an American Music Award and a Billboard Music Award; he graduated with a degree in special education; and he still managed to devote a lot of his time to The Bubel/Aiken Foundation, which he created to foster inclusion of children with special needs. He is a bona fide success on the charts, on the road and in the hearts of millions of devoted fans.

Clay in Uganda

He gave the following interview from Uganda:

American Artiste With a Heart for the Vulnerable
New Vision (Kampala)
June 2, 2005
Posted to the web June 2, 2005

Isaac Kalembe
Kampala

CLAD in a stripped sweater, jeans and brown sandals, Clay Aiken could pass for an ordinary American.

When I met him at the UNICEF office in Kampala recently, 25-year-old Clay spoke casually, hiding the fact that he is an international celebrity.

Aiken is also the US Fund for UNICEF National Ambassador for Education and he was on a week-long visit in the country. He said he was saddened by the tragic and dire situation in northern Uganda and promised to raise international awareness about the plight of the internally displaced peoples through music.

"I'm thinking of composing a song about their plight. We should think of the most creative ways of sensitising the international community about the crisis," Aiken said.

He said it was unfortunate that much of the international community was uninformed about the crisis.

Aiken has appeared on many television shows including the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with David Lettermam.

He toured with the American Idols Alive in the summer of 2003 and began his co-headlining arena tour with Kelly Clarkson in February 2004.

Born on November 30, 1978 in Raleigh, North Carolina, Aiken has taken an amazing journey. He has not only enjoyed incredible success in the music industry, but he has also excelled on a personal level. He graduated in December 2003 from the University of North Carolina (UNC) Charlotte with a degree in special education.

"I spent two years teaching children and two more visiting children in their homes," he said.

Aiken has also devoted time to the Bubel/Aiken Foundation, which he created in July 2003 to look after children with special needs. The Foundation carries the name Bubel in honour of Mike Bubel, a young man with autism (a communication disorder common in children) with whom Aiken worked while attending UNC.

Aiken was also named by People Magazine as one of the sexiest men alive. Asked about how he felt about the description, the bespectacled artiste said: "Oh, it is strange! Any way, it is an honour. Perhaps we need to redefine sex."

Aiken, who was appointed UNICEF Ambassador in November 2004, visited the tsunami affected areas in Banda Aceh, Indonesia in March 2005 and now has graced Uganda on his maiden visit to Africa.

On his role as UNICEF ambassador, Aiken says, "Everyone deserves the best start in life, which is what UNICEF is working to provide the world's most vulnerable children with. Education is essential to a child's development. I hope that as an ambassador, I can encourage people to join UNICEF's mission to make education a reality for children throughout the world."

Aiken attributes all his success to God and luck saying, "It takes luck, help from God and being in the right place at the right time."

He adds, "My faith my belief. God places a person to do things in a certain way. Each person has certain responsibilities, which they can fulfil in a way they choose
